West Meck finishes off the remaining high schools with Phillip O. Berry, Harding, West Charlotte, and West Meck.
CMS high schools have been named by Newsweek as among the 100 best high schools in the United States, this being based on the number of advanced classes that are offered to students. CMS high schools are known to produce athletes. Independence high school is a nationally known football power house, as well as Butler is for golf. Each year $12.1 million in athletic scholarships are received by CMS students.
Charlotte Mecklenburg schools are not only made up of high schools. There are about two to four elementary and middle schools for every one high school. Elementary school is the youngest school class with Pre-K through 5th grade, middle is 6th-8th grade, and high school contains 9th-12th grades.
As important of a job as it is, teachers are not making the salaries of jobs that seem to have less importance. Being that taxes are pretty much what pays for school, that is what is used to pay the teachers salary. You can go ahead and assume it’s not very much. A teacher with a master’s degree with 3 years will get you paid 38,000 dollars. Without the masters degree you are probably looking at a decrease of about 2-5 thousand dollars. For the amount they put in each week this just does not seem worth it.
Charlotte Mecklenburg school system is one of the strongest in the state and the way the city of charlotte is expanding it is predicted to only get larger and better.
